FAQs

  • The Kinetic Sense offers movement coaching and massage therapy services to help you improve pain, posture, balance and overall movement efficiency. Katie considers the influence of the nervous system and visceral organs on movement, taking a whole-body approach to address the root cause of movement limitations.

  • I work with individuals who are curious about a whole-organism approach to healing and movement. If you’re open to exploring how techniques like eye and tongue exercises can support your back pain, improve your squat and help regulate your nervous system, you’re in the right place. My clients are often interested in learning efficient, neuroscience-informed tools and want to understand how the body systems are deeply connected, never isolated.

  • If you struggle with chronic pain, dizziness, movement limitations, or feel like something is “off” despite trying traditional approaches, my methods may help. My approach is ideal for those who are open to nervous system-based techniques and want to work with their body rather than fight against it.

  • No, you don’t need a formal diagnosis. My approach focuses on movement quality, nervous system function, and optimizing your body’s natural abilities regardless of a medical diagnosis.

  • I do not diagnose, treat or cure any medical conditions. I don’t work specifically on any disease, but rather, help people with their symptoms through movement and massage therapy. I always recommend that clients be cleared for exercise and massage by their health care provider before we work together.

  • Mindful Movement Coaching is my spin on a neuro-based, personalized approach to improving how you move, function and feel in your body. I assess your nervous system, movement patterns and sensory systems (like vision and balance) to create a program that helps you optimize movement.

  • The initial session mainly consists of a detailed health history, your current symptoms and goal setting. As time allows I will perform movement assessments to help guide your program. Follow-up sessions we will get more into movement assessments and developing your individual program.  Based on your unique needs, I guide you through targeted drills and exercises designed to support your goals such as improved pain, posture and coordination. You’ll receive a customized plan to continue practicing between sessions.

  • Virtual sessions will be conducted via Google Meet. I recommend using a computer vs phone and setting up in a quiet space where you are able to move freely. Many exercises just use your body weight or simple household objects. If beneficial, I may recommend tools and items such as a yoga mat, essential oils (or something non-toxic to smell), a Corgeous ball (or towel roll), hand weights, or resistance bands. I can tailor the session to what you have available and what is meaningful to you.

  • This depends on your goals and current challenges. Some people notice improvements after just one session, while others benefit from ongoing guidance. I typically recommend starting with 3-5 sessions to build a strong foundation.

  • I specialize in visceral manipulation, sports massage, myofascial release, prenatal/postpartum massage, and neuromuscular techniques. My approach integrates a variety of techniques with an understanding of the nervous system and organ function to help you move and feel better.

  • Visceral manipulation is a gentle, hands-on technique that helps release tension in the organs and surrounding tissues. It can improve digestion, breathing, posture and even reduce pain caused by organ mobility restrictions and dysfunction. This often includes restrictions from past surgeries.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and arrive hydrated. There's no need to do anything special - just come ready to relax and communicate any concerns or areas of focus before we begin.

  • Yes! Many clients benefit from a combination of both, as massage helps release tension, while movement coaching helps ensure you build lasting strength and mobility. If you’re unsure which to start with, we can discuss your needs and create a plan that works best for you.

  • Consistency is key! Practicing recommended exercises between sessions, staying hydrated, managing stress, and improving sleep can all support your progress.
